Issue Brief Now Available False Claims Act Lawsuits: What Nonprofits Need to Know
This spring, the Charity & Security Network learned of several lawsuits filed in U.S. courts against NPOs that receive USAID funding. The New York-based Zionist Advocacy Center (TZAC) alleged that three groups provided “material support” to groups on the U.S. terrorist list, in violation of the anti-terrorist certification in grant agreements. Two cases were settled without trial. The third, against the Carter Center, was dismissed at the request of the U.S. Department of Justice.
TZAC says it has two additional cases against international NGOs pending under seal.
